Olivia & Christian's Big Day

Olivia & Christian got married at the beginning of April 2024 at the beautiful Hodsock Priory. It was a sunny but VERY windy day in typical English weather style.

The day started with me arriving at Olivia's parents house for some photos of her and her bridal party having their hair done by Aspire Hair Studio. Of course I also met Barkley the dog and had to take a photo of him chilling on the sofa! After hair was completed it was then time for the journey to Hodsock Priory to begin full bridal preparations in country house style.

I joined Olivia's bridal party in the designated dressing room at Hodsock Priory along with her 6 bridesmaids and her Mum. After hair and makeup was completed we headed up to the Bridal Suite to put Olivia's dress on with the help of her Maid of Honour and Mum. Then we did the all important reveal to Dad and the rest of the Bridesmaids (see photos below and at the bottom of this blog for some tears and some very surprised faces).

I then joined Christian and the groomsmen in the newly renovated 'Clubhouse'. Christian moved to England from Norway originally to dance with his now wife, Olivia. So in true Norwegian style he and his groomsmen said "Skål" which means Cheers, while having a shot of his favourite Whiskey.

Once hugs were over and tears wiped away, it was time to head down the beautiful Italian inspired staircase to the mustard coloured ceremony room. First down the aisle were the bridesmaids, followed by Olivia and her Dad, Stephen. The ceremony was beautiful with both the Bride and Groom sharing their own personally written vows, it was certainly a tear-jerker. Olivia did not stop smiling the whole ceremony, nor did the couples friends and family in the background. I always ask couples if they'd like me to mention to their guests about not using their phone during the ceremony, and I'm so glad I do because just look at the faces of their friends and family. Once their marriage was registered it was time to walk back down the aisle, but this time a married couple, and straight into the courtyard for everybody's favourite part of the wedding - confetti!

After the service we took a few family formal photographs, some photos of the Bride and Groom and then it was time to go inside for the wedding breakfast and wedding speeches. The speeches were lovely and from the heart, then everybody tucked in to some lovely food prepared by the chefs.

As a natural photographer it's really important to me to be unobtrusive and capture the day as it naturally unfolds, creating timeless and unposed and candid shots. Although I will help you with subtle direction, each moment I capture is an authentic part of your day that you can look back on for years to come! Hodsock Priory staff are really lovely and helpful so the weddings at this stunning venue run really smooth and seamless.

Olivia & Christian are both ballroom dancers so in true dancer style we had to take some dancing photos in front of the stunning Tudor-period country house. Their first dance and evening reception antics did not disappoint and you can tell they truly had the best day ever!
